Health and Social Well-being program

The health and social well-being program are a holistic initiative, designed to improve
overall wellness of beneficiaries by supporting general health care system, physical,
mental, emotional, and social health of our beneficiaries. Under this programme, BRISS
focuses on three main components namely:

  1. Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Component:
    BRISS works with health actors and authorities to improve and provide Maternal,
    Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) services aimed at strengthening health system of
    South Sudan, by implementing MNCH related activities under the health sector
    transformation programmes and Boma Health Initiatives (BHI) in South Sudan

2. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Component
Mental health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups such as women, girls and children are
critical aspects gender equality. BRISS dedicates most of its programme to
advancing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to children, women and
girls and those affected by crises. We provide MHPSS services to protect well-being and
treat mental health issues, especially in crises like conflicts or disasters, using
community-based activities, clinical care, and resilience-building to address trauma and
promote recovery for individuals, families, and communities. We provide integrating
support across different sectors (health, education), and focusing trauma healing,
counselling services, hygiene and dignity. Our primary beneficiaries include: women,
girls and children and all those affected by crises.

3. Population, Reproductive, and Sexual Health (PRSH) programs:
BRISS supports health initiatives focusing on empowering individuals with knowledge,
services, and rights over their bodies, covering family planning, contraception, STI/HIV
prevention, safe maternal care, and sexuality education aiming for better health,
gender equality, and sustainable development by improving access and quality of care,
especially for vulnerable groups like adolescents and marginalized communities.
