Women and youth face significant economic disparities due to issues like unequal access to services and resources such as lands, finances and education, disproportionate unpaid care work, and discriminatory practices. Although there are initiatives focused on closing these gaps, young women, in particular, encounter barriers in securing decent employment and entrepreneurship, while women as a whole perform a large percentage of the world’s unpaid labor, which subsidizes economies but is not always recognized or rewarded.

  One in every 10 women is living in extreme poverty (10.3 per cent). If current trends continue, by 2030, an estimated 8 per cent of the world’s female population – 342.4 million women and girls – will still be living on less than $2.15 a day. Most (220.9 million) will reside in sub-Saharan Africa (Source: UN Women).

BRISS is there committed to contributing to the reduction of unemployment, among the youth and women, through the creation of employment opportunities in a number of areas, including agribusiness value chains, and other Livehood opportunities.
