Humanitarian and Climate Action Program
The world faces increasingly complex and compounding crises from conflicts, climate disasters, and pandemics – with differentiated impacts on the affected population. When crisis hits, women and girls are disproportionately affected. Such impacts include loss of property and livelihood opportunities, limited or no access to critical services such as healthcare and education, as well as exposure to increased risks of gender-based violence (GBV). Their vulnerability is further exacerbated by the existing gender inequality and discrimination prevailing in the societies (Source: UN Women).
BRISS works closely and collaboratively with the like-minded partners and stakeholders to build more resilient communities by delivering humanitarian aid to the most crise-affected population and to support policies, programmes and actions which address long-term climate risk management.
This is achieved through a set of actions that manage climate and disaster risks, provide population at-risks with psychological support, protect livelihoods from both acute and slow-onset events, and build resilience against climate change impacts, particularly for those most vulnerable like women, children and small-scale farmers; ensuring gender commitments in humanitarian response. The main purpose of this program is to help BRISS achieve the following specific objectives: (i) to save lives and alleviate suffering in times of crisis; (ii)To maintain human dignity during and after man-made or natural disasters; (iii)and to prevent future crises and strengthen preparedness.
