Who we are
Bridge for Social Services (BRISS) stands as a pioneering South Sudanese women-led non-governmental organization established in 2015 with an unwavering commitment to pursuing gender equality, social justice and sustainable peace. ‘‘Our name reflects our fundamental purpose: building bridges that connect marginalized communities; particularly women, youth, and vulnerable populations; to opportunities, rights, and meaningful participation in shaping the world's future.
Our Mission
To advance gender equality and human dignity by empowering women and girls to live free from violence, discrimination, and poverty, and to lead change through leadership, protection, and participation.
Vision Statement
A peaceful and just world where all people including women, girls and youth live in safety, equality, and dignity, and drive transformative social change.
Legal Status and Financial Infrastructure
BRISS is legally established by an Act of Parliament under chapter 3; section 10 of the South Sudan NGO’ Act 2016). It operates with full compliance with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) requirements. We maintain functional banking relationships with reputably recognized financial institutions and have implemented financial management systems designed to meet international donor standards, including UN agencies and bilateral donors.
Governance and Leadership
BRISS has a functional Executive Board of Directors which serves as the governing and legislative body that formulates and passes policies & regulations, coordinate programmes and ensure adherence to internal regulation. The board delegates responsibilities and programme implementation to the Management team led by Executive Director who is appointed for a term agreed by the board.
